Thinking of new, or recent model truck or van.
Will be towing 12 ft.? cargo and travel trailers
Based on how saggy my 1 ton van(9400 gvw- sqats 2" in rear)gets with my current load, and its lack of acceleration(350cid). What size motor do you recomend?
Milage is a consideration , but so is getting up hills without burning up motor.
Previous experience, small motor gets less milage loaded then big motor. Carborated 1985 460 got 12 mpg empty or loaded
diesal would probably be the way to go, but for the price and maintanence fees, one could put a lot of gas in the v10.
Now if we could get ford to make a 350 diesal
What about a different computer , are they programmed or switchable to go econamy empty, and getty up when loaded??
No - they aren't...
You can get a programmer for a diesel, to give it plenty of "giddy up", and better fuel economy.
But you are right on the V10 comment, with regards to how much gas you can fill'r'up with. Not to mention, parts prices too.
I would look for a 2000 or newer V10 personally, but to be honest, that 12mpg you saw with the 460 was pretty dang good, I can't see the V10 beating that by much.
v-10 will think of that some more
12 mpg with 460 good- I only bought it because I got 14 with a 460 in a Lincoln, and that had more giddy then the truck, but it got 14 with a lead foot, loved showing up mustangs (lincon 4:11 , truck 3:56?) (both 5000 lbs
