I just had the top off the tranny and all is good so in she goes. Shouldn't be to hard, only four bolts holding it on the the bell housing and take the drive shaft off. A couple or three hours and it should be good to go.
Yes it is, it is a 3spd overdrive and as near as I can find out they were only put in the trucks for 77 & 78, I talked to quite a few wreckers before I found one. The second fellow I talked to new all about them, although he did have one he gave me a few leads and simplified the search. In the end it only cost me $75 so that was easy to take.
The tranny is in. Everything went smothly and everything works the way it is supposed too. The old one was in bad shape, when I took the top off, there where alot of filings floating around. The one bearing is shot but the gears and the shaft are okay so I will keep the old tranny and maybe rebuilt it.
