Advice for building a 460
I'll rebuild the whole engine, bottom end wise, but when I get up to the heads, I'm gonna still run cast iron b/c if u join the NE power pullers that's all they allow, it would be nice to find sum 429 CJ's but prolly not happenin, if I port these out well and get some dual coil valve springs and 1.73 rockers think this head setup will be alrite to 7 grand? Which brings me to my next question, I'm having a hard time trying to decide what cam to run, I'm looking for something from 3,000 to up to 7,000 but I guess I'd settle for 6500, but I'll get the engine all balenced, so I wanna take full advantage. So my main question for you guys who run any supped up 460, what cam and head combo did you use and if you went to a 514 would u change anything (head or cam wise)? I'll prolly run a single plane victor on it with a 750 maybe 800 edelbrock or holley, just concentrating on the bottom end right now, i'll worry about ignition and fuel later, but any advice is welcome. Thanks
lots of truck pullers on that site with tons of info and engine build combos for you to look over. some of those guys are making serious power with stock heads.
