Another guy w/out a code scanner - Intermittent Miss
Truck: 1999 F350 Auto w/ 128k miles.
Truck runs great and I maintain it religiously (oil, filters, etc). Truck hiccupped the other day and the SES light flashed on and then turned off (on for like 5 secs). Recovered fine and then ran great the rest of the day (200 miles)
Yesterday - decided to change out the CPS to the newer Gray ones. About 5 miles into my drive, it cut out again. Runs rough while in the throttle (like missing fuel or cylinders) and recovers with seconds and only throws the SES light one until it recovers.
My thoughts: the UVC harness? I don't have a code reader to tell you what soft codes I have. I'm located in Avon Indiana. I will have access to one on Tuesday though.
Well the intermittent became a permanent miss last night on the way home from work. So w/ it running I unplugged the passenger side UVC harness and it stayed running, kind of changed the engine tone a little bit. Replugged it back in and unplugged the driver side, it died. Feeling a lot better about all of it, I nursed it home and ripped the passenger side valve cover off. The harness was damn near unplugged. I was going to leave it apart and do the powerstrokeshop.com glowplug kit, but I need my truck. So I decided to replug it in and reassemble. I'll do the kit next week sometime.
