Thanks for the input. I've always had F250s with manual trans, hubs, and transfer case. I have no problem with locking the hubs when I might need them and knowing they're locked. I think my wife could handle all but the manual trans. That six speed would be cool! I guess I 'll start shopping and see what's out there. Are the ones with the bigger brakes also the ones with 17 or 18 inch wheels?
More comments, please.
I have had both on my superduties. I was skeptical until my dad had the auto hubs on his 01. They work fine. My 02 has them and with 155k miles on it have never had an issue. Once they are locked in going down the hwy you can shift in and out at any speed just like manuals. The only thing I dont like is going into low range. seems like it takes too long sometimes. BTW I never had to get out in the mud or a blizzard to lock my manual hubs in. I simply put them in when I got in the pickup if was snowing or stopping before the mud and locking them in.

Yes, no, maybe....
The '05-'07 model years required 17" rims for clearance of the newer, larger brakes. There were 18" & 20" tire & rim packages also available. But, that's not to say that you won't find 17", 18" and 20" tire & rims on the earlier Super Duties.
The only real distinction will be the actual model year.
