Door ajar chime??
Anyone have any ideas why door ajar chime rings even with no key in ignition, no lights on, etc. Only started happening and it's driving me crazy. Any info to correct this problem much appreciated.
2001 7.3L powerstroke Lariat.

Take the cover off the bottom of the steering column and check the black wire with pink tracer to make sure it hasn't been worn and started shorting to ground.

No... Not much rain in AZ lately... What preceded this was that I ignored the seatbelt chime on a trip home from work to see how long it would ring... Next day, door ajar chime began ringing as soon as I opened the door and before I inserted the key into ignition. Hasn't stopped since...
P.S.
Seatbelt chime didn't stop until I put on seatbelt...

Erik Your owners manual gives the procedure on how to turn off the seat belt dinger. Or search this forum there are several threads with the procedure.

Next time it does it, just wiggle the ignition switch...do NOT install the key, see if it stops.

Fixed it! The black cable that connects to the ignition barrel was loose so I removed barrel, tightened the cable and voila!
