I just put a K&N on my truck, (2000 reg cab 7.3 6spd) i wanted to use the 6637, but auto zone doesnt carry it and this is what i found to use instead. Tell me what you think! My question is, How important is it that i use the plug on the air box? http://] http://

Is that particular K&N a wet(oiled) filter? If so, it has been stated on many different forums that due to the extreme airflow that the turbos on these motors require it will dry the oil out of that filter in short order and then you will pulling dust through the gauze and could possibly damage your turbo. I Bet that K&N was expensive, If you can, take it back and wait till you can get near a napa for the 6637, or look online at www.fleetfilter.com or even check out the AIS system from FORD, but whatever you do stick with a dry filter system.

Congrats on the new truck. And BTW Welcome to FTE.... Patience, young powerstroker all good things will come(we just gotta make sure you get all the correct good things) Yes, this is called PMS (POWERSRTOKE MOD SYNDROME)
Have fun
On edit: very nice truck. I LIKE RED. I had the same Buckshots you do until about 2 months ago. If you see any dryrotting (cracking) let me know and I'll give you the lowdown on the Maxxis tires in the south.

its my second psd, in April i had an 02 ext cab F-350 6 spd for 6 weeks and some dumb @$$ in a 45 foot motor home towing an ext cab Z-71 plowed into me at 50 mph on the interstate, knocked me into the explorer in front of me and totaled out my truck. I had just installed 140 hp chip, leveling kit, 35 maxis bighorns, and new 4" straight pipes! i lost it all and the ins co only give 1000 bucks for the 4500 i spent on add-ons. What about the maxis tires? i`m gonna need some tires soon, what do you recommend?
Defiantly get the 6637, the K&N filters are not really made for the Powerstroke. Sorry about you bad luck, did you try to have your insurance company sue the motor homes insurance company for the extra add-ons, I guess I wouldn't have settled until they gave me all the money I deserved.<o></o>
That is one nice looking truck, I like the single cabs. Thinking of getting one to play with. The previous owner kept it in good shape. Do lots of reading on here and ask questions before you do a mod, just to get the feel of what others are doing with their trucks. Most of these guys have done the TRIAL & ERROR thing for us to learn from. You will have fun with all this.
Well i went to local NAPA today and they didnt stock the 6637, so i had to order it. wont be here till tommorow. Got me a new grill today! (pic on next page)
