Ok, i am the true champion of this game. Seriously. So you want some good advice? Dont throw the same thing everytime! Meditate on this young grasshopper.
The trick is to call out in the second shake (playing against amateurs), the thing that will get beaten by your item.
9 out of 10 times they choose it.

As you do the 1, 2, 3 part shaking your fists before declaring your weapon.
On the second "shake" you may yell out "rock" for example... knowing full well you plan on choosing paper.
9/10 times they will choose rock.

Clever mate.... I'm going to have to try that 4th period tomorow (this is what me and my buddy do all hour)
Dude your following my footsteps. The only difference is where you use RPS to pass time, we use it to make tough decisions; whos getting beer? RPS. Who gets shotgun? (yes we still argue over this) RPS. etc. Any decision that requires more than 8seconds of thought gets decided with RPS.
What i do is i look them in the eye and just be confident. You have to know in your head that you're going to win. Sounds dumb, you can tell me how wrong i am, but the fact is that im the champ in this neck of the woods. That, and recognize patterns. Its foolish to have a strict strategy in that game.
Oh yeah hey fred in our version of that game that would be illegal. Both contestants say "rock, paper, scissors, shoot!" Just like that, changing up the words is illegal. As is vertical paper. I have seen other variations in the rules but thats how we play. Thats very sneaky though, good observation.
