Oil reservior problem

Intermittenly oil reservior goes empty and truck won't run. Oil pump has been changed and there is no oil dripping out of the reservior. Any ideas what this might be or where to look?

Thanks in advance.

From: Spicewood, TX.
There is a check valve in the V for anti-drain back..sometimes there, Usually though the LPOP pump is the problem 80% of the time..From what I have seen any problems feeding the HPOP is coming from the LPOP not being able to feed it enough oil..

Have you checked the crankcase level?

Could also be the drainback valve or some junk in the IPR ,or lastly a stuck open injector,...the latter would most likely give you excessive smoke....
