Speedometer Broke
I have a 1991 F-250 4x4 that came with a 302 and an E4OD. A little while ago the speedometer totally stopped working. I went down to the transfer car and pulled the cable. I spun it with a drill and it worked from there on up. i remover the speed sensor and that worked as well. Is there a small gear or something inside the transfer case that could be stripped? If so how do I replace it? Any help will be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

If it's the same as my 88, there is a small (plastic) gear in the transfer case, and a gear on the end of the cable. Mine were just worn down, and no longer making contact. I purchased a new set from the ford dealer for a small sum (20$) or so. They will probably ask the color, and maybe for a description (with or without a metal sleeve) so you may want to pull your old ones for examples before you go. The wromng ones, at a minimum, could give you a wrong spedometer reading. If it's the same as mine, you will have to pull the rear driveshaft, and the transfer case tailshaft to slide the old gear off.
