Smile electric fan install

well i went and installed two 16" fan and removed my stock fan assy. not a bad job to do and not to much time. as for the cooling, all is well t-stat not opels at 205 deg. the only issue i had was when the truck is not moving the ac would not blow cold. after looking into this i saw that fors had made a 5" gap between the a/c condensor and the intercooler. so i install a 12" pusher fan on the a/c unit and now it blowers colder the it did with the stock fan. i have the upgraded alt. installed so not much extra draw on the electric system. all in all i think this is a good mod for anyone looking for a little bit better mpg and hp/tq numbers.

2 16" 2700 cfm fans $65.00 ebay
1 12" fan $40 autozone
1 wire harness with temp probe and a/c cut on $20
$125 mod and 2.3 hours of work for a mod and time with my truck
any questions i'll be happy to help. oh and with the 2 16 inch fans the stock fan shroud still fits.

It would eb really good if you could post some pictures of this install, especially how you monted the fans and your new a/c pusher fan.

Also, you say that you have the upgraded alternator.... is that the 200 amp alternator?

Another question, are the new 16-inch fans a lower profile than the original blades? (Read as "do you now have more or less room between the fan baldes and the front of your engine?).

i'll post up pics when i get home from work. the stock alt i think is 180 and the upgrade is 200 but i may be wrong. and i do have the lopro fans they ayr only like 2 inches thick if that. if your would like i could also post the part number of the wire harness. it says its a 185 deg but that changes with where you put the temp probe.

The wiring harness part number will probably be helpful for someone. I'm still toying with the electric fan approach myself, and am convinced I can do it, but just not sure if I want to place all my cooling capabilities on electric motors and my battery & alternator.

I just installed a very similar setup on my truck. I used two 10' fans rated at 2100cfm bought from ebay, and a adjustable thermostatically controlled relay box from advanced auto. Fans working great, come on when a/c is switched on and comes on around 200degrees.

If you get really techincal, our 7.3 engines need 6000 cfm total when towing at full GVWR (over 18,000 lbs), which is why the Flex-a-Lite fan company who sells a dual fan setup rated at 6000 cfm actually recommends NOT using them if you go over the total GVW (truck and loaded trailer) of 18,000 lbs.

Based on the above, those two 10-inch fans won't take care of your engine cooling needs if you tow heavy loads.

F250_ I agree that two 10-inch fans will not take care of a fully loaded truck, but I
to be real with myself. I typically do not haul anything over 10,000lbs. So I did not
see the need for the added cost of bigger cfm fans. If at that time I see the truck to
overheat I will either add bigger fans of additional fans in front of rad. My other option that I have considered is reinstalling the mechanical fan and using the electric fans for a/c use.
