been hearing things about these motors and a friend has an 05 F350 that has been nothing but hell he is getting rid of it and keeping the older F350 7.3 he has so I guess what im asking was it a certain yr model? I apologize in advance if this rubs ya wrong I don't mean to just curious (cause I'm looking to buy one my self) thanks
a lot of the problems even with the early ones weren't the motors themselves but the techs working on them not knowing how to diagnose and fix properly

What types of mods, if any, did your friend do to the 6.0 in his F350?
Roller makes a very true statement as well. Some techs throw parts at a problem vice taking the time to diagnose it properly and fix the cause vice the symptom.
However, I haven't heard of too many problems with the 05 and later 6.0s. But, as with all things, there are bound to be a few lemons out there. If you're in the market for a used 6.0, obtain the VIN on one you're looking at and post it in the Oasis Request thread pinned to the top of this forum. If it's clean or only minor issues, then you probably have a good one.
I just bought an 03 w/80,000 miles. I have enjoyed the truck so far. No issues with the motor or transmission so far. Hopefully I will not have issues down the road. I did get an Oasis report but after the truck was purchased.
