I am interested in putting my truck to work this winter. Snow plowing would make it pay for itself this year. I am looking at plowing residential driveways and some small lots. Any suggestions on what to look for and what to avoud. This is my first time attempting this kind of work. This will be on a part time bassis. So I am not making a living at snow plowing. Thanks
First I would suggest you head to a site called plowsite.com, they will have every answer in there already. Second, im not sure where you are based out of but snowfall is very hit or miss. Also, do you have the plow already? for something decent youll be looking at $3-4 grand installed. You probably will not make much profit your first year or two. Plus its does wear the truck a little more as well. Tranny, Brakes, Balljoints and if you dont have the snowplow package electrical. Our trucks are very tough and will take alot of beating however, and dont get me wrong, you can make good money IF IT SNOWS.
two sites to check out....plow site. com....let it snow. com.8'plow will work well
for plowing commercial.I hate residential people alway complain. My driveway is chipped,or you ran over my plants..Stay with comm less BS money's not bad.
Are you going to work for a contractor??
surf to www.letstalksnow.com it is a treasure trove of information, including business, marketing, plow selection, etc. Several members are from your area.
Although you may want to plow residential, you may find yourself doing some commercial work at some point. Therefore, make sure to get at least an 8 foot straight blade or V-plow. The posters before me gave you great advice. Go to Plowsite.com and the other sites mentioned for some good advice.
thanks for the helpfull advise. I do have the snow plow package and I live up in the great white north (Canada). About the contractor. I have a frend that has an auto shop and in the winter when bussiness is slow he puts his truck to work (plowing). he told me he would get enough contracts for the both of us and split it.
Thanks again you guys here are the best.https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/n...e=1&p=5095415#
