i have a 69 f100 with a 360 and i want to rebuild it. i would also like to put 360 pistons in it, but first i need to know if there is any web site that tells how to rebuild that engine. i have built a 170 but that is all. i need something to go by when i am rebuilding it. i would appreciate any help i can get.
alot of people like that steve christs book,"how to build big
block ford"
thats all I can say, Ive never built or rebuilt an engine.
but I have a 390 thats been rebuilt with 60's car pistons
to raise the comp, I think thats what buddy did since I
cannot figure out how else this hog could get up to 18mpg on a good day.Go with a RB kit for a fairlane or something.360 pistons
give a 390 something like 10 to 1 comp.
Check out the other string of "FE Rebuld" in this site. Hot Rod magazine just did their "budjet" "non-racing" buildup for about $5K. There is a lot of info available about the rebuild on these motors and you can go as extreme as your wallet will allow. You can also do a nice rebuild for about $1400 if you stay away from the nice aluminum toys that you can bolt on and go...
I agree with Mike, except I'd allow a few more bucks for surprises and plan on a budget of around 2K. Costs can run up quick if your not careful.
