Piston slap?

Piston slap?
Hey fellas i have a 93 explorer and i noticed it has piston slap.. bad. I was just wondering if there is any way i can reduce the noise or help it out a little? I don't feel like replacing the engine not worth it... the truck has 220,000 miles on it but it still runs! Thanks!

Well what makes me think it's piston slap is I pull the spark plug wire off the number 3 cylidar (front driver side) and it goes away... I put it back on and pull off then number 4 and it is still there... what is detonation?

pinging, knocking, etc. Its where the fuel air mixture ignities before it is supposed. This results in a definate sound that identifies it, often sounds like marbles inside the engine.
