The speaker plug I mentioned is only if you are using the head unit to power the door speakers. If you are using an amp, you will run all new wires to each speaker.
For the amp to run you will need a large gauge wire going from the positive terminal on the battery back to the amp. You will need another large gauge wire going from the amp grount terminal to a good ground point on your truck (keep this wire as short as possible). You will need an RCA cable for each channel you need to amplify. If you are only running a mono sub amp you will only need one RCA cable, if you run the subs in stereo mode off a 2 channel amp you will need two RCA cables. If you want to amplify all 4 door speakers you will need 4 more RCA cables. So you can really need anywhere between 1 and 5 RCA cables. You will also need one small gauge wire (12-14 usually) that you will run from the remote amp wire on the AVIC-D3 harness back to the remote input on the amplifier. This wire will supply a 12V+ signal to the amp whenever the head unit wants the amp to turn on.
So let me ask this- can i run the front speakers off one channel, and the rear speakers off one channel, and then the subs off two channels on a seperate sub? Or do i have to run the speakers with a different channel to each one from the sub? If i have three RCA outputs, then how do i get it to hook up to two amps, one being 4 channels for the speakers and one being 2 channels for the subs? Is there some type of splitter or adapter i need? Does that mean i possibly need 6 RCA outputs from the rear of the HU?
I am sure there are many more amps out there, these are just a few I found real quick. I would suggest looking into reviews, etc before buying any of them.
any amp in the "slash" series from JL Audio is pretty much unbeatable. I would stack it up against ANY MTX amp. Not bagging on MTX....but with amplifiers, you get what ya pay for! It all just depends how much you want to spend! Years ago I used Rockford Fosgate before they were bought out, then I used MTX a couple times, Kicker.......finally ended up with JL Audio, check them out, you'll be happy!
I agree the JL audio amps are very nice for the money. If you want something a little cheaper TMA which is owned by JL audio they make really good amps as well not as good as the Slash series, but defiantly beat out anything in their price range. If space in a concern the new amps from Alpine are great very small and very powerful, I would say the can almost go toe to toe with the slash series. For a speaker amp go with 4x60w RMS minimum, your really want to match them to the speakers. Make sure to concentrate on RMS power not Peak, also if you look at the fuses on the amp you can calculate max power every thing being ideal. Amps X Voltage= <st1>Watts</st1> (peak). I usually run around 14.4 volts when going down the road. As far as sup amps there too you need to match the amp to the sub, so that it runs at optimal. As far as subs go you can't beat JL audio in almost any price bracket. I run 3-10" W6 JL audio subwoofers and they sound great for a truck they aren't as loud as the W7's, but the sound quality is better. If this is your first time make sure you have your local sound shop hook everything up. After you have seen done or do it in a few vehicles I wouldn't worry about doing it myself, but for a first timer let the experts do it.

Congrats on the new system! Have been staying out of the threads, as others have provided great answers. Only wanted to chime in, as have been an IASCA SQ/Install judge, to remind you to be sure you install a fuse within 12 inches from the battery. Am sure you planned to do this and Johan01 did mention it. Have seen some very bad things happen when guys do not install a fuse by the battery. We all love your truck without the whited out BBQ look after a visit from the fire department.
Please make sure you use grommits at the hole at the fire wall and wire loom/wire ties (every inch or two) on the large guage power wire when going through the firewall. Sharp metal edges have a way of doing bad things...
Finally getting in to the sound I see.... I saw your earlier thread about the deck - nice choice, but im still too much of an alpine fan.
Ill give you some of my personal experience. Ive always been a sound fanatic, and Ive ran pretty much all the setups: 4 channel amp, running four speakers and two subs (using crossover) , ive ran one amp going only to the speakers, and I also have ran one amp running to the subs and letting the deck do the rest.
And by far, the best sound quality Ive had came from a four channel to the speakers and a two channel to the subs, that way you dont get the distortion......
urg lunch is over, ill continue later........good luck

Thanks all for the continued input. I have everything except the amps, subs and box so that's all still up in the air. I went and educated myself some at best buy last night, just peering around and loooking at amps in person just to see what kind of attachments they hook up to (I.E. wires). I will look into the JL subs and the slash amps. This place rocks
