Paint engine with body paint.
I am doing this nice 3 stage body paint, base, candy, clear.
I would like to paint the engine (460) the same color. The engine is just coming back from the shop after being rebuilt.. now is the time..
Is this possible, or should I go with one of the ugly POR 15 colors.?

it works
i seen it on trucks tv stacey david did it.. he said that is the professional way to do it.. he also deburred the entire block.. i think it would be super nice.. and im sure it would be as durable.. his was a metal flake i believe. but not sure of the brand.. it was primer basecoat and clearcoat..

I have POR-15 on both my 65s show car blocks, heads and intake. I did one in 1998 the other 1990- both are still gloss black. The coupe gets < 50 miles a year the Convt gets 100-150 a year - so no real suprise. I am not sure if regular paint will hold up to daily use, I guess with good prep it should be pretty durable.

regular paint does well, I have done numerous engines, but I sugest using a epoxy primer first before paint and use is as a wet on wet sealer, dotn let it dry all the way, I have done a couple of blocks the only discoloring is around the exahust ports, you can also have the block powdercoated and that holds up alittle better than the regular paint.
