So in an effort to level the playing field between my brother and I for towing our new boat, my mom offered to pitch in and pay for half the cost of swapping my gears for 4.10s, lucky me huh!? So now I need to find a reputable ring & pinion shop in the Sacramento area. Actually I'm more up in the foothills near Auburn but I'm assuming there are going to be more places near Sac. Let me know if you guys know of any places that do a decent job with decent parts for a decent price Would be great if they did an AWESOME job with AWESOME parts for a decent price of course Thanks guys.
There is a guy up in AUburn, but for th life of me I can't recall his name, several years ago I bought some replacement parts from him for a D44, I happened to be heading to Nevada, and stopped by his shop and picked them up.
There were 2 or 3 hotrods and 2 or 3 4x4's in the shop at the time, as I was waiting for him to find my box of goodies, I spoke with some of the customers there and got the feeling he was pretty good and pricing was the best around too.
I'll run a Yellow page search for you later in Auburn and see if my memory get's jogged.
He was a heck of a nice guy too, offered to send me the parts without paying upfront to make sure they were what I wanted.
I looked through YP.com, nothing rang a bell, but I know if I had the actual book in front of me, I could find it...the internet deosn't list thing out like the book does...but there's a chance I still have the a box in a cabinet with the name on it, I'll take a look in a few minutes.
Hmm... I took a look through the yellowpages (paper book) and all I came up with for a place in Auburn that does axles was that Heckler Fabrication... I double checked and came up with nothing... Lame.
Ohh, great, thanks Jag. I'll give a call to both places and see what I think about each one. If anyone else knows other places in the area please let me know, the more the merrier.
I just got a ballpark quote from a local place, they said it would be around $395 per axle for labor, and I can bring my own parts (or buy theirs). Does that sound reasonable to you guys?
