Hi there, I was wondering about converting my 360 to a 390 and whether it would be a cost effective venture. Right now I have a 1969 f-250. I want to give it some ***** with the convert and a carb and cams and such. Also I have that granny four on the floor. What about switching over to an OD tranny? Is it more headache than its worth? Planning on having a liesure vehicle here that will take a few guys off the line. Any advice in these areas?
The 360 is a gas gusseling gutless wonder compared to a 390. Swapping to and OD trans will work with the 390 not wth a 360. So yes it is worth the time, money and effort.
unbelievably I have heard that if you put a crankshaft from a 352 FE into a 360 it becomes a 390. Mabe I'm full of bullhonkie mabe someone will jump in and correct me if this is wrong.
A 352 is a small bore 360. 352 has a 4" cylinder dore and a 360 has a 4.05" cylinder bore. A 390 crank in a 360 block equals a 390 as the 390 also has a 4.05" bore.
