Exhaust ?

Hey Guys, whats the pros and cons of removing the cat and muffler. I have a 2005 f350 6.0 diesel cc longbed 4x4 don't want a lot of noise. Was thinking of keeping the factory exhaust and just removing the muffler. Thanks for your input.

Using the search feature will bring you loads of information as this topic is asked almost weekly.

Pros: Lower EGTs, better (louder) sound

Cons: May not pass emissions inspection (depending on your location), louder sound (if you don't like louder exhaust)

So the question is why remove the muffler if you don't want louder exhaust?

I have an o2 psd and I cut the muffler off today and added a turn down. It is not as loud as I thought it would be but you can really here the turbo spool up now. I should have done this a long time ago. You can't beat an upgrade that is free.
