I have a '69 with holley pro injection 2d. New cap, rotor, wires, and coil. I am getting gas from injectors but no spark. Anyone have any ideas? Also have pertronics pickups, no points.
yes I have 12v at coil and computer. This system worked when I bought the truck. But the engine was crap so I put a 5.0 from a '95 f150. I did not touch the injection though. I just used the block and valves.
The Holley fuel injection system doesn't tie into the ignition at all it looks like, so we need to focus on the ignition system as you are getting fuel. Are you getting spark at all from the coil? I would go back through and make sure that all of your connections are correct and are making good contact. Check for any blown fuses and then lets go from there.
If it doesn't tie into the ignition where does the coil get power from and all my connections seem good. Like I said before all my wiring and cap etc. are new. I'm worried that maybe my pickups are faulty but they worked in the old motor. Is there any way that the gap between the rotor and cap need adjusting? I do have 12v power at coil and computer. This seems like it is something simple but can't put my finger on it. I even jumped from the pos. from battery to pos. coil and still. no spark. If I run a continuity test through the coil wire will that tell me anything and if so what?
Don't you set an air gap for the pertronix pickup? Is the wiring from the coil to the distributor in good shape? With a test light on the negative side of the coil, are you getting a distinct flash while cranking?
I have power to the coil but during ignition it just dims no pulse. Also I not aware of an air gap for the pertronix. Please let me now if I missed something. This system was not installed by my but did work with the other motor.
Check for any grounds in the distributor. Check actual static and cranking voltage at the coil and to the pertronix unit. According to their website, low voltage will cause a lot of problems. Didn't say anything about setting a gap so I may have confused it with another system. Have you verified that the distributor is turning?
I have 12v. static at coil and pertronix. When cranking it drops at pertronix down to 3.35. Pert. web site says it should cycle between zero and battery voltage. I really appreciate the help. Dist is turning.
Sounds like you may be getting an average from a digital voltmeter. It still seems low to me. Assuming that the wiring to the distributor and in the distributor is in good shape. It sounds like you may have a bad pickup since you are not getting a decent flash.
I have replaced my Pertronix and I now have spark but still no luck. It now seems to be starving for gas. I went and put 2 gal. in to make sure that there was enough to send but still no luck. I'm at my wits end with this and fear that I'm going to cause more problems than solving. Last night I had gas and no spark now I have spark and no gas. I don't know where to go from here except to tow it to a garage and let a pro tackle it and my savings. I would really like to do it all myself but am lost. All your help is very appreciated and I hope someone out their can revive my ambition and confidence.
Is the fuel pump working? Can you hear it? Blown fuse or bad ground? Are you getting any fuel or is it dry? Do you have dual tanks? Are you switched to the correct one?
