I'm trying to figure out why my "Wait to start Light" wont go out. I have a 1983 F350 6.9 with a Banks turbo. When I went to start it yesterday it wouldnt turn over, no clicks, nothing. So I went and tried to jump start it, it turned over a little bit but wouldnt start. So I went and installed new batteries. I turned on the key and wait to start light wouldnt go out. I let it sit for ten minutes and it wouldnt go out. I did turn over and started, I immedeately shut it down so I wouldnt damage the plugs. So I got out my Haynes "Diesel Engine Repair Manual" and started following my troubleshooting steps. I found that my Power relay was not allowing power to pass through it. I discovered that when I manually applied power to it it would click and power would pass through. So I started tracing out the signal for activating the relay. I couldnt find it. I did see 12 volts at one of the pins on the harness for the control switch. After about 2 days of signal and wire tracing I still cant find where I'm loosing my 12 volts, there is 1 volt at the pin. Could I just put a manual switch on there like farm tractors have, just activate it when I want to? it says that it only turns on the glow plugs at intial start up and cycles through that for 90 seconds after start up to clear smoke. Would that affect any other functions of the engine? A wiring diagram for this thing would be AWESOME!! All the ones in the repair manuals I have are for Gas engines.
