I installed my hellwig swaybar today, it took like 2hrs with those darn tight bolt and the right side was alittle more work than the left, but all went smooth. I'll upload some pics later.
Mine came in last week but when I opend it, the parts box was for a Jeep (code on the small box was off 2 digits). Hope to have the replacement in by weeks end. I'll put the new Bilsteins on Thursday. My X is a 2wd and I'm really hoping for some improvements.

I had the same situation. Make sure you stay on top of Hellwig about getting the replacement and that they pick up the old one. I ordered my sway bar from shoxx.com, it was shipped from directly from Hellwig. It was a jeep sway bar. I called Hellwig and they sent a replacement the next day. I have emailed and called Helwig 10 times to have them pick up the jeep bar. They say the will but as of today, 6 months later, it is still in my garage. I dont want to sell it on ebay because I am afraid they will eventually charge me. Their customer service is weak but the sway bar really works. Good luck!
I discovered my mismatch two Saturdays ago, no phone support on the weekend with Hellwig. I FEDEX'ed it back to JC Whitney that same day, they received it Wednesday but didn't put a reorder in untill Friday. It's suppose to ship tomorrow. Hope to get lucky and have it before the weekend.
hey guys Iam new to this form and its great , I just installed a rear sway bar off of a 04 f 250 onto my 2000 excursion the only thing I had to change were the linkage bars the ones I got off the 250 were 15" inches long i used them at first but the end of the sway bar was tilled down and only about 6" off the ground I was afriad it would catch on some thing so I got the six inch ones for the X threw the dealer , I had to mod these a little the two mounting bolts faced threw the same direction I had to switch the tow bottom one so that they faced the opposite direction from the top ones and I had to take off the passager side shock mount off and cut that stupid skid plate that is weld to it down the one side so that the braket that goes around the rear axle would fit but it was easy to do , and everything cost about 130.00 bucks, and it was well worth it . know she corners great and the sway when towing my camper is all but gone , still have to adjust dual cam a little. Dan
i bought a 2000 X limited to tow my 10,000# camper....
been towing it with 95 G20 chevy van for 180,000 miles and the rear springs are getting a little weak from being loaded the entire time.... it has been a comfortable tow all these years, but with a 350 CDI and 373's it is only rated for about 6,500#, and thought the X with it's tow rating would be a good up-grade for me....
i find it hard to believe the X will not be up to the job, as well as my old van still is....
what gives???? they say the springs are to soft, but there is no way they are softer the the van springs.... the hellwig should help with body roll, but i haven't noticed that as aproblem so far.... i have read it is needed to help prevent trailer sway how dose it do that??? is anybody towing without all the add-ons or is this a mistake to consider this as a tow vehicle???? i know plenty of people towing with suburbans, with out add-ons and they seem quite happy with the results.... is it just a known fact the X isn't up to the job as is???? i thought ford built these things to compete with the burbs.... what happened that they can't????
i have been a GM man my whole life, i hope this switch won't prove i should still be.... surely a truck with a 10,000# tow rating shouldn't need hundreds and in some cases thousands of dollars worth of up-grades to tow it's rated weight.... so far reading the forum has me afraid to hook it up for a test ride, for fear of swaying clear to the next county, and then having a skark plug ejected on the way back....
WHAT GIVES.... CAN THIS THING SAFELY TOW MY TRAILER OR NOT????
