traction

Ive got a rear traction issue with my 64 f250 2WD. Im very familiar with pickup trucks and how a lack of weight can lead to traction problems but this truck is extreme. Firstly when braking, the rear tires will lock up in even a moderate brake application on dry pavement. Brakes are manual 4 wheel drums. Under acceleration I experience a similar problem but only on one side. The right rear tire almost always spins. In wet conditions when making a left turn I need to excercise extreme caution as even light throttle will cause the truck to spin out, yet when turning right the left wheel will not spin but the right will. Ive tested the truck in gravel and i can make both rear wheels spin so I believe the rear end to be working properly. By comparion, my 66 F250 2WD exhibits none of these symptoms. Any thoughs on this problem?

How old are the front brake rubber lines? If they are older then 10 years then they could be swollen which is causing the front wheel cylinders to be really slow to react to braking. Unlike the rear brakes which grab like it is cool.

Your rearend in the 64 may be a worn limited slip. That might explain a little bit if it is, where as your 66 is an open diff.
