Hi, I have a 1996 F150 with the I-6 and a 5 spd. I I was driving home today from the smog place to firgure out why the hell my check engine light kept coming on so I could get it smogged (runs perfectly though), thats another story. Anayways, on the way home after they got done with it, I noticed that it didnt want to shift into 2nd of 3rd very easily and it seemed that the more gas I gave it, the harder it was to shift (ex: starting from a stop on a hill). Although its just annoying right now, I was wondering if this was a problem that could get worse and what exactly would cause this problem, im guessing that its crappy syncros.
It sounds like a hydraulic clutch issue, like the slave is working just right. The manual trans is not going to degrade right before your eyes. That is usually a bit more exciting. If the clutch does not release, the mainshaft cannot float and the syncros cannot do their job, which is to align the speed of the mating shafts.
One of the greatest weaknesses of the M50D is the brass synchronizers. They realy dont last long when used for heavy-duty or performance use. Bad gear spacing too, just to let ya know.

Is there any way I can adjust it? I mean is there any way that I can adjust it so that the clutch is actually 100% released when its to the floor? If it was just a cable like on a dirtbike, that would be easey but I dont really know how to do it with hydroics.
Oh, would adding some fluid help it, providing that it is low on fluid in the first place?
Oh yea, I have also noticed lately that the pedal has a little play in it at the top before you can feel a little more pressure at the top, if that means anything.
