I think Peyton knows the game better than all the other QBs out there. He's the only one I've seen on the sideline constantly looking at photos of the opposing D between series. The "show" he puts on is part of it--he's doing every last possible thing on every play to throw off the D. Any fake he does is far sharper than any others out there I've seen. He's also led the way in the no-huddle offense all the time...others are trying it, but they aren't succeeding with it much. They're fine if it's a scripted 2-minute offense, but can't do it all game long. Total package QB, IMO (okay, except the run...he looks hideous when he does that, but it's effective because it's rare).

If he is the only qb you have seen on the sideline looking at photos between series I have three words for you, NFL Direct Ticket! Again I'm not saying that he isn't great, he is. There are two reasons most teams don't run the no huddle anymore; first, the entire offense, not just the qb, has to be able to run it. Teams like the Vikings with huge o-lineman just cannot do it. Second, defenses are way more intelligent and athletic than they used to be. He has also been in the same offense with the same people for years which makes everything that much easier for him. Manning has been blessed to have targets like Harrison and Wayne. And he is NOT the total package qb. He is a pure pocket passer. Maybe the best pocket passer of all time. QB's like Elway, Young, Favre, Kelly, McNabb, are more the total package type qb's.

Elway....I still miss him. I still remember as a young kid watching Elway during his 80's superbowl appearences, you could tell he was very nervous and that arm of his was throwing ***** that almost broke the wide outs hands.

I would compare manning with Montana.....like you said not much of a runner but the absolute best when he is in the pocket with time.

Brady ranks up there, he show more poise than anyone I have ever seen in the game.

49er fan here.

Man, do we miss Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, Ronnie Lott, John Taylor, etc.

I hate blowout games. I enjoy a good battle.

After awhile I got bored watching Superbowl XXIV (24).

But, I don't have much hope of the 49ers making the playoffs.

That era is long gone.

peytons blown a ton of games in the playoffs, brady has done it better with way less talent. they gave that game away last year to them, brady lost alot of talent in the offseason the year before, theyve reloaded now.

funny how marino hasnt been mentioned yet, talk about qb's

GO COLTS!! I hope the Colts and repeat but like I've told a lot of guys at work who are huge football fans, if there's one thing that's been proven lately is it's you can't keep Brady and the Patriots down long. They'll be back in the hunt again this year. I wouldn't mind seeing another Colts/Patriots AFC Championship game. This last one was a blast.

My favorite team is the one who's stomping on the packers, 9ers, or patriots. I cant stand any of those 3. It puts a smile on my face when Bret Favre gets taken down hard.

My favorite teams were the Cowboys, and the Dolphins, when both were in their prime 10-15 years ago. I quit watching football for a while when Troy Aikman left.

The area I'm in now broadcasts the Vikings, Packers, and Bears games. I've been watching the Bears the last couple of seasons.

aw come on Jimbo, favre was a stud, and should always be remembered that way. anyone of us would have loved him if he was playing for our teams. By the way The Steelers are looking good new coach and all. looking for a playoff appearance this year. I hate peyton manning! the reality is that i love his commercials, and his abilities, and cant knock his skills, he just plays for the wrong team, so he gets my hate. Behind closed doors, when nobody is around he is a stud, just like Brett was/is! Dan

Eagles fan here, I like there chances this year but I'm a little worried about the linebackers as there all pretty new. Mcnabb's knee should be fine I think he'll have a good season.

ag30265, I do agree with you that the college boys do play with heart and it is some pretty good football. But I've always viewed it as most of them are playing with so much heart because they are trying to break into the NFL, the rest are playing for the love of the game.

You do have some NFL players that play for the love of the game, but just not as a team, unfortunately.
