2003 6L acceleration problems
My old 2003 6L PSD has recently been having problems accelerating. When
I jump on it, there's a very pronounced sucking sound, and the engine
surges and coughs. At cruise it's fine, unless I hit a fairly steep grade, and
it does this then, as well. Usually accompanied by black smoke out of the
tail pipe. The biggest downside to this is now I'm afraid to go after the
Dodge drivers...
Does any have any ideas what might be the problem? It sounds like an air
problem, but it has a brand new filter - oh, by the way, just a couple of
days ago, the air restriction gauge spontaneously exploded. I have a new
one on order. This may be related, but not the cause, as this behavior
started some time ago.
Thanks in advance.
gauge in stock. About $37 with tax. No tools required to install, just unplug
the old one, plug in the new one. What a difference! Over the past several
months, I've tried new fuel filters, air filters, everything. Turns out that it
was a bad airflow restriction gauge. Now I have horsepower on demand.
Dodge Cummins has no chance against me now. Even the hemis have a
tough time keeping up!
I'm now showing a P0405 code - looks like a problem with the EGR. Also a
P2623, but that's common with the SCT. Does anyone know if the P0405
could be caused by SCT HiPerformance tuning?
