tabs on the block
What are those four tabs on the top of the block that are on the four corners of the engine for? They stick out a little and have a little edge that pionts up. Do they have any important use? I'm thinking about shaving them off.

Possibly critical locator surfaces when Ford originally machined the crank area. They make for a good pry bar surface. Otherwise just cosmetic (for whatever reason) in my opinion.
