Long time no speak yall, i own a 97 F-250 LD 4x4 recently I went to use my bright headlights and upon me clicking the stick to the bright position, my headlights turned off. i looked further into all of this and my reverve lights dont work, nor does my light for my rear plate. I checked every fuse I could find and they all are good, any suggestions? i heard fords are notorious for bad electrical problems but damn whats next?
I had a similar problem in a 79 bronco I had. The dimmer was on the floor though. I replaced the dimmer switch and it fixed my problem. I know these vehicles are from different generations, but it could help. Good luck
First, I do agree with streethealer. I had the MFS in my truck go bad about two years ago.
Another electrical issue -- obviously the CC harness doesn't work (factory recall on 97 models), but I've got some other issues, as well. First, my towing lights don't work (the connection on the back that hooks to a trailer.. that thing.) Two, I've repeatedly blown the dashboard fuse that controls the speedo, the tach, etc... (I'm talking like 100+ blown fuses from just the one fuse). There have been a couple of times where the truck would not start at all, but would start a couple of hours later.
Is there an easy way to fix the stock wiring harness? Or should I look into after-market wiring harnesses for the f-150?
trailer lights have a large fuse in the fuse box under the hood. Mine was blown when I had my trailer brake control installed. It would be a good place to look. My neighbour wasn't getting any lights for his trailer and it was also the fuse.
