well, i went ahead and put out the 400.00 for 2 rebuilt heads. I should have them in a few days so I will post back when I get them. Now for a comment on the heads that came off the truck. I think it was DF who posted that the original head gasket for the FE was metal. Well, When I pulled these heads, out popped a thin metal headgasket! I was shocked because I was thinking 'this cant be the original gasket' However, once I wiped it off, I saw embossed on the edge a C8AE (with some #s) Could this be original? The truck is a 70 F250 4x4 but i think the cab and bed were changed so I am not wholly sure of the year. Now I know a little about the coding ie--C=60's *= year ect, so could this be a 1968 FE? the head casting # was the usual C8AE-H. Im stumped on this one. It doesnt look like there is an overbore size stamped on the crown of the piston either. Then again, I havent cleaned all the carbon off either. Any comments?
