cold weather problems

When it gets cool here around freezing and below my turbo hisses more and the pick-up has no power and only goes about 25 mph. sometimes it does this when the engine is warm and the air is cold. this can be tricky when the roads are slick and it decides to take off. I unhooked the rod that goes to the turbo and wired it open, this helped the problem but oil liked to leak around the rod, this was a mess I didn't want. Could the map sensor or oil temp sensor be the problem?

I think it would be open, the problem went away. It was tied to the drivers side, which if looked at from above it was clockwise. The oil mess is what I didn't like so I hooked it up again in the summer to stop the oil-leak and it did. With winter comming on I thought I should see if I couldn't figure out why it would close in the winter when the vehicle was running at operating temp. "According to the gauge anyway". What tells the accuator what to do?

thanks for the help

put the rod back on and just unplug the plug on the intake side of your turbo. its a little two prong plug. it will stop leaking and you wont have any more hiss.

it is normally open, the pcm closes it via that connector using oil pressure, unplug that connector and there will be no oil flow

It sounds like your seals are shot on the EBPV assembly. If the piston is leaking oil it will cause the butterfly to not function properly all the time. It is unmistakable, the hiss it makes in the cold weather as being the EBPV. Like others have said just pull the plug, as the only way to repair it is to pull your turbo and pedestal.
