Guys is the truck EFI upper and lower intake made for torque or high rpm horsepower? I ask this because I feel that I lost a little low end torque after upgrading my upper and lower intakes to a GT40 explorer style... Why did the truck feel torquier before the upgrades such as the better upgrades like the GT40 iron heads with 1.7 roller rockers, 302HO camshaft advanced 4* and the upper and lower GT40 style???

I'm certainly no expert in the field, but I'd wager the shorter runner length on the explorer intakes did not help. I know you want long thin runner lengths to develop velocity at low rpms for torque. The explorer intake certainly does not help you in that department. Although you probably feel a good bit of giddyup past 3000 rpm. Not that this applies to a 4500# truck....
This is off the topic, but if you went through the trouble of swapping the heads, why did you go with the stock 302HO cam?? Especially, if the low end grunt was what you were after?? You might want to rethink that cam choice and call an expert. I doubt they'd recommend the 302HO cam advanced 4* for your application.
Also, if your exhaust from the manifold downstream has not been addressed.... you could have bottlenecked the system even more. Your motor can only breathe in as well as it can exhale. Long Tubes and a free flowing 2.5" Y pipe, high flow cat and a single exit. If you want to give that intake and heads a chance to breathe
I have heard that the short runners are good for torque and the truck intake with the long intake runners is really good for high rpm horsepower I have seen that somewhere... You are right though I definitely feel some giddyup past 3000RPMS ;-) I went with the 302HO camshaft because the lightning guys are running that cam in their 351w lightning motors only they are advancing the camshaft only 2* instead of 4*, but being that have the 302 motor 4* was recommended so that's what I did.... I am using shorty heads and 2.5 piping through a flowmaster 40 series single in dual outlet muffler so there shouldn't be any restrictions there you would think....
You got that flipped. Long runners are going to make more lowend. The short streight ones are better for higher rpm.
Sounds like you got a good combo going, but just moved your RPM range up a bit. Maybe a good time for a gear change to take advantage of the incressed RPM range.

That should further reinforce the point that short runners produce power further in the power band. We need all the low end grunt for 5.0 powered trucks. Your setup sounds good for a lighter vehicle application. A 1" phenolic spacer would help your runner length some....

I'd highly suggest speaking to a camshaft company, as per Hemieater's suggestion. A 302HO cam is far from ideal, toting a 5000lb+ 4x4 truck around.

Long tube headers would be an excellent improvement over the shorties. I've ran both setups in our rigs (FMS shorties and longtubes), after the long tube swap, the shorties weren't worth the cardboard box they arrived in.
Stick with a 2.5" Y pipe and a single flowmaster downstream and you'll be impressed. Sell your old shorties on craigslist!! 4.10 or better gears would help tremendously.
