Hello, everyone. Have been away a bit. At anyrate I have a question about transmission service. I have an 06 SD 6.0L, automatic tranny 26k miles. Have performed all oil changes & fuel filter changes myself to this point. Love this truck. I keep reading about some sort of external filter for the tranny but can't seem to locate it. Trying to look ahead for the 30k service. Will probably take it back to Ford for the tranny service, but was wondering where this external filter is if any. Thanks
The FT-145 filter is in an aluminum housing on the front passenger side of the truck. It's just below and behind the radiator and you'll need a 22MM socket to unscrew the housing.
The filter looks like a roll of adding machine paper. It's a press-fit over a 1/4" nipple and a spring loaded disc presses onto the other end, then you can push the housing over the filter and screw it back on.
