I have gone through tons of post regarding a suspension lift for the 06 PDS 4x4. It appears that most of you recommend the DR 4.5" kit. However, in doing my research, I noted that there is a BDS suspension lift kit. I haven't heard of this kit. Has anyone heard of this kit? Anyone have it installed.
I was also curious what is the difference in the DR kit and other kits such as Skyjacker, Fabtech, etc. Is there any one that is better than the other?
Donahoe Racing lifts are known for thier superior parts, ride quality, and warranty. That is why they are so widely recommended here.
I have heard that BDS makes a pretty good kit from a couple people, but we haven't heard all that much about them.
I would suggest you give Marty at Truck Toyz Performance a call. He is a great guy to work with, and can probably answer any questions you might have about lifting your truck. Marty is a member here (Overkill) and his company is a site sponsor. I bought my lift and tires form him and was really impressed with the customer service and price he was able to give me.
I haven't really heard much on the BDS kits. After all my research that I did, price and opinions from LOTS of people about different lifts, I decided to go with Donahoe Racing. Which is why my truck is at the suspension shop right now getting the 4.5" kit installed with 35x12.50r17's. I will let you know how well it rides and everything tomorrow when I get it back. Can't wait.

Pete,
There are a number of differences between the DR and other systems you mentioned. The DR system includes dual rate coils which are 10% softer than the oe springs at ride height but which ramp up to 50% over the oe springs at full compression. This allows for added plushness on-road but also minimizes bottoming and improves performance off-road. This system also includes DR Signature Series gas shocks where were developed specifically for use with this system. In addition the system features an adjustable track bar which allows you to adjust for proper axle centering, as well as one piece oe style rear block in integrated bump stop tangs & grade 8 hardened u-bolts. As with all DR products this system is made 100% in the USA and is backed by a lifetime warranty.
We offer the BDS system as well, but if you want the best I recommend the DR system.
Thanks guys. This just confirms my decision to purchase the DR kit. Not just for the performance but that it's made in the USA!
Hey Beerstalker, did Marty and the guys at trucktoyzperformance install the kit for you. I have read so much about these guys and how they do a great job. I just don't know if anyone in Houston that can install the kit. There is one official product distributor but I do not know there reputation for installs.
Ptn714. If I am not mistaken the only place in Houston that can install these kits is Woodlands Performance and Suspension off of 45 and Sawdust Rd. That is where my truck is at this very moment. Daina called me about an hour ago to tell me that the lift is on and looking good and that they were mounting the wheels and tires on at that moment. They do not do alignment there, but are dropping the truck off at the alignment shop tonight and will pick it up in the morning. So far they have been outstanding people to work with. I have heard nothing but good things about them and there work. Check out their website at www.woodlandsperformance.com Go to the photo gallery and take a look at some of their work. I will be able to let you know more about them and their work tomorrow when I pick up my truck. But so far so good.
Sure thing. I will be sure to post some pics in my gallery and when I do I will let you know. Be sure to check out there webiste. They have some nice looking trucks on there. The black F150 that is on the first Ford page is at their shop. It looks good in the pictures, but it looks sweet in person.
I had my lift, tires, ram air hood, Airaid intake, and MBRP exhaust all installed at my dealer before I recieved the truck. The dealer said if they installed all the aftermarket stuff, my truck would still be covered by the warranty. I was also able to get all the labor at a cheaper rate, and built into my loan.
Yeah, BDS makes decent stuff. Their ride quality isn't is good as a DR or Rize.....also the BDS 4-link uses bushings instead of a spherical bearing rod end.
Skyjacker and Fabtech...while being quality systems suffer in the ride quality and suspension geometry areas.
Best overall ride is is going to come from a DR due to their progressive rate springs, custom valved shocks and good suspension geometry.
BDS makes gas engine specific system for your truck. DR (Icon) and CST systems will work as well however you will net more than the advertised lift. What size lift are you considering?
