I am about to purchase the Quad. Commander. I know it comes with the EGT probe, but should I purchase the optional fuel pressure kit? Is the kit important to have or what is the reason for purchasing it, other than monitoring fuel pressure? Also is the pillar mount worth it, or will the mount that is included work fine?
I have analog gauges, and no experience with the Quadzilla, but I am sold on having a fuel pressure gauge. If nothing else, you can tell when your filters are getting plugged, and starving the injectors. Injectors are more expensive than a gauge.
low fuel pressure is detrimental to your injectors, so try not to starve them. i chose to go with isspro gauges, but if you want a "gauge pack" you can add the livewire to the sct , do you already some sort of chip/tuner ??
Yes I have SCT tuner. I want to stick with a monitor instead of gauges, just personal preference I guess. And I hear that the Commander is the best monitor around.
I have had the Commander for a little over and year and really like it. I provides all the information I want to see at a quick glance without sacraficing the grab handle or obstructing my view. I do not have the fuel pressure kit, so I can't comment on that. I did buy the a-pillar mount and painted it and the commander to match my tan interior. It blends in nicely now.
You can also monitor ICP since you have the FP kit. I'm having issues with the ICP functionality (turns my Commander off randomly) but I haven't had the opportunity to call them.
I have the quadzilla commander in my truck, with the a-pillar pod. the mounting hardware included is not worth the box that it comes in, IMO. I'd certainly recommend the a-pillar mounting pod, it works very well and looks right in place. I did not get the fuel pressure kit, am monitoring EGT, Trans, Water, and Boost. I do like the commander but am still getting used to it. Install is a bit of a pain, but probably the same as any gauge/monitoring. There has to be a better set of install instructions than what comes with the unit, they suck. And, there has to be a better way to tap the power supply than the method suggested, as it required some modification to the fuse panel cover that I wasn't excited about doing - all of which wasn't described in teh install instructions. it does what i wanted, looks great in place and didn't require the removal and disposal of my grab handle which I hope to need even more once I get lifted.
yes once you lift it, you will definitely need it. it is bad to use the steering wheel to pull yourself into the truck, or the door handle for that matter.
i have a single gauge pod for the a-pillar only, so i can keep the handle.
have u looked into the DashDaq that Matt is working on bringing out for the SCT ?? it's bad ***
Hey did u guys paint your pillar yourself or how did u go about that. I have a 2006 Lariat with tan interior. Does it look good, does it hold paint well.
the black looks fine in my truck, as the trim around the dash is black and this part seems to blend in well with that. i think that it looks fine to me, you may feel differently.
