46000 miles on my front brakes and when I pulled drivers wheel to check pads I noticed a scar on the drivers rotor. So I pulled the caliper and rotor off to check and this what I found. Looks like 2 flakes came off and ate the groove in the rotor, never saw this before. On a good note it gave me a good enough reason to go to Power Slot rotors and Hawk LTS pads. Just wondering if anybody else has seen flaking like this before.
I have seen this numerous times. It is very bad casting from the manufacturer. Probably steel imported from China. The steel was not heated high enough to burn out all of the impurities and this is the problem that you have. There is no repair, they are just junk. Replace them with quality "Made in America" products. Check the label and make sure were they were made.
Well like I said I went to Power slot rotors and Hawk lts pads. I got them put on this weekend and did all the break-in procedure, very happy so far. I can't wait to see if it makes a difference with my cattle trailer on the back. Thanks for the input guys, any and all help is always greatly appreciated.
