Speedo slow ?

Just put in my new speedo cable . I have a borg warner 4 speed with stock speedo . I am running 28" tires . Stock tire diameter is ? I dont know . So my speedo is running 15 miles per hour slow . My wife ran by me in our new truck and clocked me at 65 when my speedo said 50 at 2500 rpms . So what is the problem here , old speedo , tire size ? Nothing has been changed in the gears . I am thinking tires to small . Any sugg ? Thank you for the help.

Plastic gear on cable end in transmission been replaced ?

That is the only thing that can change the reading.

It was in great shape and is stock .

My speedo runs about 7mph slow at 65, and I have 35" tires on it. If you tires are to small the speedo would be fast not slow....hmmm.

Ok makes sense , now i forgot to say I painted the needle with my wifes nail polish to brighten it up a bit , 2 coats , would that make it not work ? I just cant figure it out . Could it be to heavy now ? Is the needle draggin with the nail polish ? LOL.
