Last night i was changing my spark plugs, in my 1995 F150 straight 6, 4x2. I took off my air cleaner, and the intake tubes running through the throttle body, so i could get to the plugs easy, as soon as i got the intake tubes off, I found a wire unhooked (pictured below), the truck ran wiht the wire unhooked, and i now believe that it could be the cause of my front fuel tank not working. I looked around, and found nothing that it could plug into.
A while ago i posted here about my front tank not working, my tank off and on working, now it dosent work at all, i figure this could have unhooked causing that.
Any ideas anyone, i dont know that much about electric, and dont claim to, but can anybody tell me hwat they think it could be, thanks.
Here you can see it hanging down, pictured next to the oil filter.
Here it is at various angles
Originally i thought it would be the hookup for one of those code computers, but arent they inside the car?
Let me know if you need any other information, THANKS AGAIN FELLAS.
I don't think they started putting the scan pigtails inside the trucks until 96 when they changed over to OBD 2...could be wrong but my 95 has em under the hood...and no, they don't look like that...they're on the driver's fenderwall anyways.
OBD2 has the "DATA LINK CONNECTOR" under the drivers side dash as per federal law. OBD1 depends on manufacturer. For these Fords, it's under the hood in various locations depending on model.
Many of these fords have plugs that go to nothing, so that alone means nothing. My 88 E-150 has several. It has to do with using the same harness for many different applications and not all applications utilize the entire harness. You can look this plug up in a wire diagram via the colors of the wires. From there it should be easy to tell what it's for and if it should be hanging there unplugged or not. I don't recognize it so I can't help you there.
How about starting by telling us where the other end of the wire ends up? Trace it as far back as you can. Also try and see what the wire colors are, from the looks of the plug at the end it will only be 2 or 3 wires.
To the air diverter solenoid. Follow the other two taped wires to the drivers side rear of the valve cover. It should plug into the solenoid closest to the firewall
