checking hpop oil level

i know the screw is on top of the pump, but it is the little hex screw closer to the right side of the pump, i am looking for a bigger fill screw but all i can find is a small hex head screw. i changed the orings last night, but will the pump come back to the correct level after i drive it for a bit, or do i have to fill it up some??

Go ahead and put fresh oil in the top and it is the hex/allen head screw on the top. It will start much quicker.

If you have already started it, doesn't matter anymore.

The HPOP is the fuel pump, right? If so are you guys actually talking about fuel, or does the HPOP also use oil?

No, the HPOP is the High pressure Oil Pump which pressurizes the oil to the injectors to fire them. The fuel pump is located along the frame rail below the drivers door...the HPOP sits on top of the engine near the front.

Thanks. I have only read a little on injector operation. If you know of any links with more info on the operation of injectors I'd like to learn more about them. When you say "fire them" does that mean that the HPOP causes the injectors to open (and allow fuel into the cylinder) by using the oil (10W30 or whatever) to pressurize the injector to the open state?

Here's some good reading on the PSD injector operation. That ought to get you started.

It will come back up to the correct level, it just may be harder to start. When i changed teh HPOP i didnt add any oil, just cranked it about 3 times and she lit, sounded really goofy at first, then straighten out.
