7.3 chip?
Hello
I have a 2000 X 7.3 and am new to the forum. How can I tell if I have a performance chip installed. I asked a Ford tech and he told me that he was only at Ford for four months but that if I took off the kick panel behind the parking brake lever I would see the socket. If it was empty I had no chip. If there was anything in there then one was installed.
Someone else advised me that they all have chips and I must get the number to Ford to find out the type.
Appreciate the help.

for further info you want to get into the 1999 2003 forum, But the tech at ford is right, the socket will be empty if there is no chip installed ... however, it is possible to increase the factory settings without a chip by using a tuner, and you wont see a chip . hope this helps.
