!Ford's future vehicles!
, here is an outline of Ford's lineup for the next 5-7years.As one can expect, under Mullaly they are consolidating platforms, AND engines and transmissions.
EUCD2 - replaces CD3, EUCD, D3 - this is the midsize platform, for future Mondeo, Fusion, Mazda 6, Volvo S60 etc.
C2 - replaces C1, C170, CD2 - The Focus, Volvo S40/V50 and Mazda 3
B2E - replaces the current B1 (all versions of it) and Ikon, Courier, Bantam - the small car, probably coming to the US too... as the Fiesta.
Transit-Connect platform (C1 front unique rear)
Transit platform
T1 - F150/Expedition/Navigator etc.
T6 - Ranger, due 2010, the current model will be axed end of 08
Huntsmen - replaces Orion, Panther, Mustang, the new Large RWD car/SUV platform, in 2012... and with it a Unibody Explorer, and a unibody F100 (instead of the Explorer SportTrac)
D3 - will be maintained for larger FWD based SUV applications (Flex for example)
Engines will be at follows
Gas:
4 cyl's - Duratorq's engineered by Mazda, starting at 1l, moving up to 2.3l. Many to be available with Turbo's and/or direct Injection.
5 cyl's - Volvo to maintain a 5cyl program (WOOT!)
6 cyl's - Volvo will maintain thier traverse mounted Inline 6, and Cyclone V6 family, 3.0l, 3.5l, 3 versions of 3.7l, and 4.0l
8 cyl's - 6.2l Boss, a reduced capacity version at 5.8l and a 5.0l V8. Jaguar to increase the capacity on thier V8 up to a maximum of 5.0l (for ~530hp in supercharged form!!)
Diesel:
4cyl's - The Duratec range to still be jointly developed with PSA (Peugeot and Citroen)
6cyl's - V6 diesels to be jointly developed with PSA
8cyl's - V8 diesels to be based off the V6 diesels but no joint development with PSA
(I don't know if Volvo will be continuing its 5cyl diesel)

But, having said that - their was no provision for other modular motors...
Potentially a diesel Ranger however...

But the F100 is going to be the Explorer SporTrac
So T1 won't be used on a production vehicle, but it will be what it is referred to behind the big blue oval gates.
