Duals on an '87 302

I just got true duals 30" Cherry bomb glasspacks on my '87, and they sound awesome. I was going to put on some headers, but, I was having clearance issues with them, so I just put my manifolds on it. I recommend this to everyone, because I have much more power and throttle response, and best of all, my mileage went from 12.5 to 13.7.

I'll try to get a sound clip when I get my hands on a mic.

I just used plain ol 2.25" pipe with 3.25" tips. Before anybody tries to tell me that 2.25" pipe is too small and restrictive, think about the fact that 2.25 is the factory size pipe for a single, and so running duals, I am only putting half as much exhaust as a factory single. (Ya'll probably wouldn't say anything, but the retards at my school tell me that I should have run at least 2.5 pipe because 2.25 is too restrictive.)

I don't know what brand the longtube headers were, but I was going to have to notch my crossmember and my body. Then even if I did notch my frame and body, my external slave cyclendar on my clutch was going to be another clearance issue. Not a big loss though, I got the headers for 20 bucks in a junk pile at a local junkyard.

I'm happy with the price too. It only cost me 100 for custom bent pipes form a local shop, $50 for the glasspacks, and 1 Saturday to cut out all of the old stuff, and weld in new hangers and pipes.

Well I agree with ya, the smothered little low compression wheezer doesn't need anything bigger than a 2.5" single. Swap out the heads, install a healthy cam and a blower, and then it'll need dual 2.5".
