Question Headstuds

I am thinking about putting in new headstuds for my 6.0L, I heard that you can put them in without taking the heads off like leaving the original gaskets on. Is there any suggestions?

I would not attempt such an endeavour myself. I think what you are referring to is the take one head bolt out, install and torque one headstud approach. It's a bad idea and likely to result in head warpage. Also, I don't think you can even get the back studs in with the heads in place.

You're better off to life the cab or pull the engine and do right, a new set of gaskets is cheap peace of mind.

I can't say for sure, I mean just look at the geometry, look how long a head stud is compared to the space between the valve cover and the firewall... As to changing them out without changing the headgaskets.... Salespeople say funny things... It's not that it can't be done, it's just not the "right" thing to do. For me, if the cab is lifted or the engine is out I'm changing those gaskets for sure; also it's the only way to verify head/block deck flatness which is absolutely critical on these engines.
