Unhappy Question about start-up

I am now starting to notice that my 6.0L is shuddering while trying to take-off after start-up, I normally let the motor run for about 5 minutes before I take-off, when the motor is warmed-up it does not do it anymore. Is there any suggestions? should I change fuel filters? I just changed them 500 miles ago, and it still does it. What should I do?

Sounds like an injector issue. Do you know when the last time you had your truck flashed is and how many miles on your oil change?

It has about 500 miles on the oil and I am running Amsoil with a FS2500 oil bypass system, and the truck has been reflashed around 45,000 miles, and now have 63,500 miles on it now. I am running an Edge Juice w/Altitude monitor. This truck is a six-speed.

If you don't have the newest reflash from around the first of this year then you should get it. It will help with injector stiction issues, which it sounds like you have. If you'll post your vin# then we should be able to find out which flash you have, unless you already know. Are you able to pull any diagnostic's with your Edge?

I used a snap-on diagnostic scanner and it only shows "excessive EGR flow", the Edge i'm using is first generation model, I bought it new about 2 months after they came out with it, it will not show any diagnostic codes, I never have a SEL light on, and you are probably right I may need to get it re-flashed. Vin # is 1FTSX31P13ED37009

i'd remove the edge and then try it. mine would stutter like that, and it kept getting worse. that edge was the biggest piece of crap i ever put on my truck.

another suggestion, warm it up before you drive, that's something everybody should be doing anyway.

You sid you found the excessive EGR code. Have you tried cleaning or replacing the EGR valve?

Nope, I have never even touched the EGR valve, so should I ditch the Edge and get SCT tuner w/Matt's tunes then? What is wrong with the Edge? is it re-writing the ECM?

no it is intercepting the signals going to/coming from the ecm and modifying to them to "trick" the injector timing/amount etc....

the SCT actually reprograms the ecm.

I would start by either cleaning or replacing the EGR valve. I believe there is a thread around here with instructions. After you do that clear the codes and see if the truck runs better. If it doesn't check the codes again and let us know what is going on.

LvTitan pretty much has you covered on the EDGE/SCT stuff. There are many people here who have had engine/transmission trouble caused by the Edge modules.

LOL--at least you don't have to worry about the Edge trashing your tranny then.

Yeah that's true. The Edge still messes with injection timing and boost levels that can cause your cylinder pressures to become to high, which will stretch head bolts and cause head gaskets to fail. It is still my opinion that you should take the Edge off and sell it, and put the money toward an SCT Excal II with custom tunes.
