I am looking at buying a 2004 F150 with the 5.4 engine in it with the 3.73 rear end in it. Does anyone know what kind of mileage I can expect to get on this truck? Please say if you are using US gallons or Canadian gallons. Probably a mixture of city and HWY driving
Your mileage varies as to how you drive. With the setup you're looking at i'de say, with easy driving on the highway,60-65mph,you most likely will see anywhere from 16 mpg to 20 mpg. That is what my friends 05 F150 with that setup gets.
My 05 supercrew 3.73 LS rear 5.4 liter and Advance Cover gets a solid 12mpg around town and a best of 16mpg on a highway trip. That will never happen again as it drove me CRAZY keeping it at 60mph for 3hrs.
My 04 SCrew with the 5.4 gets around 16 with both city and highway miles combined and I dont baby it around. Running all highway at 75-80 I get around 17-19. Like I said I dont drive like an old man to get those numbers but driving habits do and will vary the mileage. I also have a bed cover which helps.
I as well have an 05 SCrew 5.4 with 3.73's and i average 18-19 mpg highway and 14 mpg in town. I don't baby my truck around either. If I want good gas milage i'd drive my wifes rice burner.
04 SCREW 4X4 12 and change with 33" tires mostly city and rural country driving, very little highway. With stock tires 13 and change. Best I ever got was 15 on a four hour interstate trip.
If your concerned with the mileage buy something else because 150's love gas.
My 04 5.4 SCREW with 3:73 LS axle gets 18.8 @ 76mph, and averages 15.5 both city and hwy. It used to get 19.8 @ 76mph but the new GoodYear Wrangler silent armor tires brought my mileage down a bit. Probably more tire to the road. My original tires were 265x60x18 BFG's.

That's about what I get with my standard cab but I do drive gently. I just got back from a 720 mile trip where I drove 60-65 MPH with the AC on and I averaged 19.4 for the entire trip. One tank yielded 20.7 but I was going downhill (dropping about 2,000 feet in elevation over 240 miles).

i just took a vacation in july and drove over 2200 miles. between all the highway and city driving (mostly highway) i averaged mid 18's mpg. i kept my fuel reciepts and found i bought 120 gallons of gas. so not terribly bad overall. i also had the A/C on for the whole trip and drove around 70 mph
