Just got a used limited slip off Ebay for my 94, it was in an 87. I plan to rebuild it, (I've rebuilt rear diffs before so I'm not goin into it blind) My question is, does anyone know how to "tighten up" these units so they work better. Ford has allways made there LSD "loose" to avoid customer complaints.
Thanks,
Steve
I've seen numerous people saying to add extra clutches, however, I've never seen specifically how many, or where on earth you could find extra clutches without buying a whole extra rebuild kit.
Did some searching today, found clutch rebuild kit form Ford $137. they sold it to me for $119. Also called Randys ring and pinion, they had it for $91 +shipping. I ordered it from Ford since there kit comes with the friction modifyer.
The clutches have some wear, and the gears were really tight but since I got it out there gettin replaced.

Ironman, do you have a part number? I'm going to be rebuilding a 3-pinion 10.5" unit, and most of the kits go for around $160 - $250. I'd love to be able to pick up the whole thing at the local Ford house for less $$!
This is for a 10.25 trac-loc carrier, I dont know if it interchanges with the 10.5
Do your clutches have two 'ears' or three on the outside? IIRC the 10.25's had two ears, adn the 10.5's had three. Different clutch packs. Hope yours has three...
