Steering Problem Question
The steering box on my 93 F-150 has a major leak. I don't want to fix it because the truck is ready for the junk yard, but want to use until my inspection sticker expires. I've been driving short distances without fluid-how long can do this for, will it cause steering failure?

Running dry would be harder on the pump than the steering gear. The pump could seize up on you, and you don't want that! I would disconnect the lines, connect pressure to return, fill the pump up with oil and manually steer (it's not that hard) till it's time to hit the bone yard.
