Noisy engine

My 2002 4.2 almost sounds like a diesel (not quite as loud). Does anyone know what causes this? Anyone have the same problem?

I have posted all over the internet about this, nobody seems to know,u can read my posts on this v6 forum and see that my 99 is the same as your 2000.

Hello!
Did you ever figure this out? I just purchased one and it's doing the same thing. I checked the oil for the first time, the truck has seven hudred miles and still has the break-in oil and it is about a quart down?

Replying to my own question. I thought it might help other folks. The diesel like sound that many people hear is normally the injectors. For some reason they are a little loud and this is normal. If you put you finger on the injector you can actually feel the injector operate as it coencides with the sound.
