My OBD connection hasn't worked for years. I've had technicians complain to me several times they couldn't get any data out of it. Is there any other place to connect a scanner? I've had quotes to replace the harness, but I'm not willing to spend that kind of money on it. I have a scanner that works fine on my other vehicles, and if I could connect it somewhere on the van to check out my ABS light, I would like to do so. Thanks for any advice.
do you have a mass air meter at your air cleaner
if not then your van is obd 1 and has a connector under the hood
this is how mine is
has both test ports but only the one under the hood
is functional
Yes if you have a 5.8L, 49 States Over 8600 GVW then the one under the dash is a dummy plug.
You have the OBD I and the connector is under your hood at the hood hinge on the drivers side.
Your OBD II scanner will not work in most cases on this van.
Sounds like the technicians need to look closer at their manuals.
On the other hand if it is a 5.8L, California, 49 States Under 8600 GVW then it is a OBD II and you have a problem with the PCM or wiring.
Who would have thought! I'll check it out when I get it back from the shop. My tensioner pulley seized on me yesterday and it is stranded at a service station. I have an OBD 1 reader I bought for a 92 Explorer I used to have. Hopefully that will work. Thanks for the advice. I'll let you know what I find.
