Backfire gone, new issues
ECT sensor
ACT sensor - (it was ugly)
IAC Motor - (very sooty)
O2 sensor - (very sooty as well. I couldn't believe it only has 1, just before the flange to the catalytic convertor)
Spark Plugs Motorcraft ASF42C - gapped 0.44 - (it had Mighty Core, never heard of them, gapped @ .035
) MSD Cap and Rotor I had laying around, never used.
Coolant temp sensor (it was bad, gauge not reading, works good now)
Water Pump - (removed belts and found the awful screaching sound I've been trying to track down, bad pump bearings, almost frozen.)
MAP sensor - (bought a cheapo Wells unit at Autozone, had a surging issue on acceleration, put the original back, runs great. Don't buy cheap for certain things. Took it back, got my $60 back. Must be a reason the Motorcraft part costs $169)
Now I have a couple of other minor issues.
Hard starts . I have to give it just a bit of gas for it to start and idle. Once I do, it idles right up runs like it should.
Still rich. Not as bad as before the tune-up, but still rich.
I have a fuel filter to put on tomorrow. Could this cause the hard starting? Timing possibly off, I'll put a timing light on it tomorrow as well. It runs great after the hard starts though. Leaking injectors? Any other ideas?
(Also got new tires today. Front-end alignment, and brakes to follow in the next week. My kids will be driving this beast, gotta make sure it's safe)
Looking at this exhaust, I can install myself.
